The time has come, Europe´s longest sled-dog race is starting. 1000km with the start going from Alta in Norway. Ketil is in the starting area getting ready, and is reporting of good weather and that everything is under control. The Femundrace (Femundløpet) has almost 200 dog teams, and close to 2000 dogs at the starting line, it is with this the worlds largest dog race. This year it was a cold one, temperatures dipping to -46 celcius. Our dogs luckily made it without any frostbite. Ketil came in 6th place in the 12-dog class, over 50 dog teams starting in this class. Our handler, Markus Ingebretsen, did a great job with the yearling dogs, and came in 19th on the 8-dog class race, here it was over 100 teams starting.

The big stare on the A-team was the 2,5 year old leader, Arctic, son of veteran Yukon and Pali. It´s always exciting to have a change of command in the team, the older veterans staying at home, and the younger dogs showing what they are good for.  It will be interesting to see how this young star, Arctic, tackles the long Finnmarkrace, of a 1000 km.
